The Circle Line was first opened in 1884 as a circular route linking the main railway termini in the City of London. Initially, the line was built to connect the Great Western Railway, the Metropolitan Railway and the District Railway. By 1949, the line had been extended to Hammersmith and Barking, and the Circle Line was officially opened in December of that year.

Traveling the Circle Line

The Circle Line is one of the busiest lines on the London Underground network, with over 180 million passengers using the line each year. Trains run every five minutes during peak hours and every ten minutes during off-peak hours, making it easy to get around the city quickly and efficiently.

Popular Attractions Along the Circle Line

The Circle Line offers passengers the chance to explore some of London’s most iconic sights and attractions. Popular stops along the line include the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye, St Paul’s Cathedral and the Tower of London. Additionally, each station is marked with a coloured line that corresponds to the route number on the large map above the platform.
